Spring & Summer Bus Trips 2010
Eastern State Penitentiary & The National Liberty Museum
Thursday, April 15, 2010 Depart 8:45 a.m. Return 5:30 p.m.

Eastern State Penitentiary's vaulted, sky-lit cells held many of America's most notorious criminals, including bank robber, ?Slick Willie? Sutton and Al Capone. The tour will highlight the Penitentiary's fascinating 142 year history, revolutionary architecture and world-wide influence. Lunch at Philadelphia's famous Jack's Firehouse is included. A tour of the National Liberty Museum will follow. The Museum is noted for its glass art collection which includes, as its center piece, the 21-foot "Flame of Liberty" by Dale Chihuly honoring the courage of those that risked their lives for freedom.

The Metropolitan Museum of Art Picasso Exhibition

This exhibition features 150 works, including the Museum's complete holdings of paintings, drawings, sculptures and ceramics by Pablo Picasso - never seen before in their entirety. A guided tour of this collection reflects the full breath of the artist's multi-sided genius as seen over the course of his long and influential career. Lunch will be at the Museum Dining Room with time to see the costume exhibition, American Woman: Fashioning a National Identity which explores developing perceptions of the modern American woman from 1890 to 1940, and how they have affected the way American women are seen today.

Bartram's Garden, Philadelphia

Come join us on a tour of John Bartram's 18th Century home, barn and cider press carved from bedrock. Stroll with our guide through America's oldest living botanical garden of American native plants, wildflower meadows, majestic trees and a river trail overlooking the Schuylkill River. A box lunch will be provided in one of the Garden's historic buildings. After lunch, we will tour Woodlands Cemetery, a National Historic Landmark. It includes a magnificent federal style mansion, a matching carriage house and stable, and a garden landscape that in 1840 was transformed into a "rural" Victorian cemetery and arboretum of over 1,000 trees.

The Berkshires, Tanglewood and the Boston Pops
July 18 & 19, 2010
Come with us for a wonderful two day trip. The Berkshires is a cultural hideaway that seems to have the right balance of picturesque towns, museums and grand "cottages" built by the robber barons of the 19th century. DAY 1 We will leave Parking Lot #1 Sunday morning, July 18th and arrive in the Berkshires late morning. A tour of the Norman Rockwell Museum will be followed by a boxed lunch at Tanglewood and a concert with the Boston Pops and special guest, Arlo Guthrie. After the concert, we will check into the new Berkshire Comfort Inn to relax before dining at a local restaurant. DAY 2 We begin our day with a guided driving and walking tour of Stockbridge and Lenox learning why the Berkshires became America's Premier Cultural Resort. We will see a few of the grand Gilded Age "cottages", walk the grounds of Tanglewood and visit quaint New England villages. A visit to Edith Warton's estate, The Mount, is sure to please everyone with its inspiring architecture and formal gardens. We will then depart for home. Price: $350 per person, double occupancy. $75 additional for Singles. Price includes: accommodations, transportation, 1 breakfast, 1 lunch, 1 dinner, Tanglewood ticket, guided tour and all admissions.
