Children 6 years old and under
The WonderWing The six-and-under audience will have a magical undersea learning experience in our popular WonderWing. The WonderWing is an educational space offering a permanent exhibition on the sea and the creatures that make it their home. Children can explore a pirate ship, perform in a Tiki theater, climb a tree house, experience a kelp forest, slide down a whale slide, and listen to a moving waterfall. Birthday parties are booked in advance so be sure to call first to make sure the WonderWing is available. Besides walk-in visitors, the WonderWing attracts groups from mothers' centers, daycare facilities, nursery schools and kindergartens.
School aged Children 7-12 years old
The Becker Children's Wing is a comfortable learning environment for school age children. It is enjoyable for individuals, family and school visits. The new exhibition is titled Changing Climate : Changing Weather. See the calendar of events for details.
Teens & Young Adults
Although many of our attractions presented in the Main Gallery and the Nilson Gallery are designed to appeal to adults, younger visitors will still find many items of interest.
Our 2,300 square foot Main Gallery exhibition space offers changing exhibitions in the fields of science, nature and cultural history as well as formal presentations of art in every media. From sculpture to watercolor, oil painting to photography, printmaking to video, you have a great opportunity to see world-class art. Art work from local talent as well as state and national touring exhibitions. Click on the Main Gallery icon at right for current exhibition calendar.
The newest addition to the Monmouth Museum is the Nilson Gallery, Meeting Room & Patio. The second floor of the Tower houses our administrative offices. The 900 square foot Nilson Gallery offers beautiful exhibition space with large windowed views of the Brookdale campus and its adjoining stone patio, nestled in a lovely wooded scene. The Nilson Gallery can also be rented for corporate or private meetings.
The Museum is a comfortable, interesting, stimulating and changing place. Not always the quietest place when school groups are passing through, the environment is alive with people and art for all ages to enjoy. You might even find a lecture or bus trip to enjoy. Many of our volunteers are Seniors.
We strive to be accessible to everybody. Please call in advance and tell us your needs, we will be as accommodating as possible. And we would appreciate your feedback on your experience with us.
