An Update:  Reopening the Monmouth Museum & Membership

The Monmouth Museum is taking steps to ensure that we reopen with the safety of our guests and staff as our priority. We also recognize that many of you hold active memberships. The Museum will extend all active memberships by a six month period. Any memberships that were scheduled to expire in March – June will also receive that extension. Please look at your membership card for your expiration dates and know that once we reopen, it will be honored six months past that date. We are excited to see everyone again soon. Below are some updates regarding reopening:

When will the Monmouth Museum open?

The Board of Trustees met and created a COVID-19 Committee – a group with diverse backgrounds and varied areas of expertise. The COVID-19 Committee was challenged to consider what our reopening and recovery plan should be and to prepare for the future. We are currently in the early phase of reopening (see Phase One below).

How can we fulfill the mission and vision of the Monmouth Museum and keep our members and employees healthy and safe?

In preparing our comprehensive plan, the team has drawn upon health and safety guidelines from the CDC, the World Health Organization, OSHA, the EPA, and Governor Murphy‘s Roadmap to Reopening Strategies. The team also reviewed successful plans now in place for recently reopened museums throughout the United States. The COVID-19 Committee’s plan had to consider safety for all staff and members, deep cleaning according to OSHA, CDC, and EPA guidelines, physical distancing, and required wearing of face masks and gloves.

The Monmouth Museum will open in Phases:

Completed pre-open 1: COVID committee meets and employees are allowed in the building

Completed pre-open 2: Routine cleaning of public areas

Completed pre-open 3 Sanitization of public areas and touch points, masks, gloves, and temperature taken of everyone entering the building
