Dialogues in Printmaking showcases works by 58 printmakers from the USA and Korea who represent a wide array of contemporary and traditional printmaking processes, techniques, and an open dialogue that stems from a shared artists studio.Through a breadth of philosophies and sensibilities, these artists share a connection through a common printmaking studio practice that creates thematic, cultural, and process-based tribulations and resolutions.
This exhibition aims to show the printmaker’s interpretation of global and personal events, parallel to the influence of a group, team or community – a dynamic unique to printmakers and printmaking workshop spaces. The grouping of work from both countries represent hubs for creativity and various responses to their unique cultural settings. The exhibition emphasizes the importance of exchanging knowledge, ideas and cognitive thought in image making.
Dialogues in Printmaking is curated by Chunwoo Nam, Print Art Research Center, Korea; Christina Pumo, Russ Spitkovsky, Carrier Pigeon/Paper Crown Press, USA; Matt Barteluce, Guttenberg Arts, USA; Justin Sanz, Robert Blackburn Printmaking Workshop, USA.
This Exhibition has been traveling between IPCNA, Lima, Peru, Print Art Research Center, Seoul, South Korea, Galerie 21, Köln, Germany, now at the Monmouth Museum in Lincroft, NJ, USA, and culminating its run in New York, NY.
