MMKIDSMonmouth Museum presents Free Museum Day!

Museum Day is an annual celebration of boundless curiosity hosted by Smithsonian magazine. Participating museums and cultural institutions across the country provide free entry to anyone presenting a Museum Day ticket. The Museum Day ticket provides free admission for two people on Saturday, September 21, 2019.

MMKIDS September Theme:
Yarrrgh Mate, It’s Pirate Month! A month-long celebration through fun Educational Programs and Crafts featuring all things Pirate while Exploring the Open Seas!

MMKIDS Theme for the Day:
Robin Hood is the theme in the Meyer Art & Nature Area in honor of Betty Jean Meyer.

All Day Make & Take Craft: Tie-Dye Butterfly craft in the Meyer Art & Nature Area (all ages; children under 6 with assistance from an accompanying adult)

10:30am: MMKIDS “Walt Disney’s Robin Hood” Story Time & a Fox Craft; Meyer Art & Nature Area (all ages; children under 6 with assistance from and accompanying adult)

12-5pm: MMKIDS Art Lab: Robin Hood Hats & Paper Weaving Banners (all ages; children under 7 with assistance from an accompanying adult)

1pm: MMKIDS “Walt Disney’s Robin Hood” Story Time for ages & a Fox Craft; Meyer Art & Nature Area (all ages; children under 7 with assistance from and accompanying adult)

1:30 MMKIDS Planetarium Show (Age 7+)

3pm: MMKIDS Planetarium show (Age 7+)

Do you have a Van Gogh or Picasso in your home? Kids of all ages can access their creative side in our Green Arts Studio by making arts and crafts that incorporate recyclable materials.

Ancients to Astronauts: How We Communicate
From the ancient Egyptians to early rocket science and the future of space travel, the history and science of communication are brought to life through scenic displays in this hands-on, interactive exhibition designed for children ages 6 – 12 years.

WonderWing
The six-and-under audience will have a magical undersea learning experience playing in our popular WonderWing. Children can explore a pirate ship, perform in a Tiki theater, climb a treehouse, experience a kelp forest, slide down a whale slide, and listen to a moving waterfall.
