Group & Traveling
Art Workshops
The Monmouth Museum offers a variety of instructor-led classes and workshops both at the Museum and traveling to your site. Workshops focus on a particular style of art or an artist, while allowing your group a hands-on experience to create artwork inspired by the subject. Classes and workshops take place year-round during the week, weekend, day and evening. Workshops can be made to suit any age group from children to seniors. Groups may have full access to a gallery, closing to the public. All supplies and instructor are included. Payment for a minimum of ten participants is required.

Painting in the Style of Keith Haring!
Keith Haring became a well-known pop artist of the 1980’s. He was known for bold and colorful cartoon artwork. He used bright colors, often limiting the number of colors per piece of artwork and had radiating lines coming from his figures. Today his artwork remains celebrated and can be seen in museums across the globe!

Drawing with Scissors Inspired
by Henri Matisse!
Henri Matisse was a famous painter born in 1869. He went to art school in France and then he studied famous artists like Claude Monet and Paul Cezanne. They were using bigger brushstrokes with lots of color. Over time, his style changed and when he got older, he had trouble painting. He couldn’t stand up a long time so he would cut out shapes and called it “drawing with scissors.” He wanted to make people happy with his art!

Painting in the Style of Damien Hirst!
Damien Hirst is an English artist born in 1965. He is 56 years old and has become famous for colorful paintings. Since 1986, Damien Hirst has produced over 1,000 spot paintings. The dots, which are all done by hand, celebrate the simple joys of color.

Painting in the Style of Piet Mondrian!
Piet Mondrian lived from 1872 to 1944. He was a Dutch modern artist. He painted in an abstract style that made him famous! He made an irregular checkerboard design with black lines and blocks of color. He would use white, blue, red and yellow. This style is geometric abstraction with primary colors. Mondrian painted about 250 of these geometric abstracts, from 1917 to 1944. Mondrian called his style “neoplasticism.”

Painting in the Style of Yayoi Kusama!
is a Japanese contemporary artist who works primarily in sculpture and installation, but is also active in painting, performance, film, fashion, poetry, fiction, and other arts. Her work is based in conceptual art and shows some attributes of minimalism, surrealism, Art Brut, pop art, and abstract expressionism. She has been acknowledged as one of the most important living artists to come out of Japan
