Becker Children’s Wing
The Becker Children’s Wing is designed as a comfortable, hands-on learning environment for elementary school children over 6 years and their families. Here, learning is an active process and exhibitions are designed to offer children an interactive engagement with a subject. Visitors can explore the exhibition, experiment with many hands-on activities and visit the children’s gift shop.
Ancients To Astronauts: How We Communicate
Explore the theme of communication through four exhibitions featuring hands-on, interactive displays and activities on different subjects.
• Experience weather and learn how weather reports are broadcast
• Travel to Ancient Egypt in a time machine
• Blast off in a Friendship 7 capsule in our Space Exhibition
• Discover new crafting experiences in our popular Green Arts Studio
See the Hours page for times for Becker Children’s Wing hours during the week and on weekends.
The six-and-under audience will have a magical undersea learning experience playing in our popular WonderWing.
Children can explore a pirate ship, perform in a Tiki theater, climb a treehouse, experience a kelp forest, slide down a whale slide, and listen to a moving waterfall.
Birthday parties are often booked in advance so be sure to call first to make sure the WonderWing is open.
The Green Arts Studio
Our popular and award-winning Green Arts Studio; encourages our guests to set their imaginations free through the creation of unique arts and crafts projects. Our shelves and bins are full of a variety of recycled materials and craft supplies that inspire both children and adult guests. Drop-in for one of our gently guided “Art Hour Sessions,” use our new tracing station to draw your favorite characters or scenes, or spend the afternoon indulging the artist within!
The Meyer Art & Nature Area
The Meyer Art & Nature Area is a multifaceted outdoor art area that serves as a classroom for the appreciation of art and nature. This area has encouraged our educational programs to spill out into a “nature learning center” where the sky is literally the limit! The Meyer Art & Nature Area features an Art Area, Gathering Area, Butterfly Garden, Wildlife Area, Bird Watching Area, Picnic Area, Photo-Op and the famous “Stella”, a large magenta dinosaur created by the late Monmouth County sculptor Jim Gary, made from a collection of auto parts! This space is open to both families visiting for the day, and can be customized as part of an educational tour that can be customized for your visiting groups from Spring through Fall!
